Rack Research

What could be simpler than a rack. Flat table, some rope and a big wheel! Take a girl, tie her to it and turn the wheel till she breaks - mentally if not physically.

Well - in the real world nothing is simple, and making a rack is no exception. I realized this when I put my partner on one in a dungeon we were visiting. The experience was not what I thought it would be. I guess I expected a nice lengthy erotic scene in which I would gradually stretch my partner - listening to her screams of agony as I cranked the wheel notch after notch after notch.

But there were several problems. The ropes pulled her wrists at an awkward angle. She was laying too flat. And once you took up the slack, there was no where to go. One more ratchet of the wheel would have caused real damage. So it ended up being a pretty short scene without much action.

When turning fantasy into reality you have to pay attention to the details. First of all we have to keep the girl safe - we don't really want to break anything. Secondly we want to keep it erotic, which means making sure that the pain we give her transmits into pleasure. And finally we have to make sure that we have fun too, physically, mentally and aesthetically.

Sounds like a challenge to me.

There are probably several ways fasten her to the rack. Ropes and cuffs obviously come to mind. But as mentioned above, these have limitations. When pulling a person tightly with rope, the rope tends to cut into the wrist and cut off circulation. Cuffs have to be of the right design and fastened carefully or they will do the same thing or slip off.

An observant enthusiast suggested that the wooden cuffs you see used elsewhere in the Bondage Demons site might work well on the rack.

So we did a test - and he was right!

Hooking a rope to the center pull attachment on the cuffs allows the captive to be pulled apart in a straight line, even with her wrists and ankles separated. Being able to use a single pull rope simplifies the problem of keeping both legs and both arms equally taut.

It is conceivable that if a single center pull rope is used the captive could flip over. This could be good or bad, but is preventable with other ropes if necessary.

The hard surface of the cuffs is painful when under tension, but may be an acceptable compromise give the other advantages. The smooth rounded surfaces of the cuffs distributes the pressure over a wide area, and the loose fit does not cut off circulation as badly as some alternatives.

One of many remaining questions is the optimum angle of the head and tail pulleys above or below the captives body . In this test, the arms are pulled up slightly and the legs are pulled straight.

Pulling the arms upward is probably more painful (which can be good or bad), but may allow a rack wheel to be turned more as it pulls her up as it stretches her. Much more experimentation required.

So what do you do with a rack?

Apart from the thoroughly entertaining technical aspects of rack design we certainly want to explore what can be done with one!

Naturally we may want to induce pain in our captive. Even though she may not have any secrets to reveal, and we don't really care if she admits to being a bitch (oops I meant a witch), we really get off on those priceless expressions, and if we're lucky tears, that flow from her as we slowly crank up the tension on her body.

We may want to induce pleasure in her.

We may want to force her to provide pleasure for us.

Or we may just want to restrain her for whatever reason.

As long as she's laid out the way she is we might as well take advantage of the numerous angles that present themselves. We were able to verify several that worked.
